Twenty-eight student artists in grades 2-12 from the Bethpage Union Free School District had their artwork featured in the 20th annual Nassau All-County Art Exhibition at W.T. Clarke High School on March 10! The event was sponsored by the Art Supervisors Association and featured more than 1,300 pieces of artwork from Nassau County students in grades K-12. #WeAreBethpage
Matthew Schneider, a senior from Bethpage High School and a talented jazz guitarist, performed at the 51st annual Joseph R. Sugar NYSSMA Day in Albany on March 4.
Matthew served as a member of the NYSSMA All-State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. The ensemble performed both a public concert at the South Gallery Concourse of the Empire State Plaza and at a reception for State legislators, members of their staff, parents and NYSSMA members. Members of Bethpage High School’s Students Putting an End to Cancer Club (SPEC), held a fundraiser to give back to a family from CCS that unfortunately knows childhood cancer too well. SPEC members presented a $1,000 check to an incredible first grader named Lia Esposito who recently battled kidney cancer. They also donated proceeds from the fundraiser to Cohen Children’s Hospital in Lia’s name and to the American Cancer Society. Great job, SPEC! #WeAreBethpage
Five talented seniors in Bethpage High School’s College Pottery and Sculpture class had their 3-D artwork selected by The Atelier at Flowerfield to be exhibited at the Third Annual Middle and High School Student Artists Juried Show. The exhibition will be held from Feb. 29 to March 29 in The Atelier’s 2,000 square-foot gallery in Saint James. Seniors Caitlyn Filardi and Parisa Pitiranggon from Bethpage High School’s AP Studio Art class had their artwork selected by the Art League of Long Island to be exhibited at the 17th annual “Go APE” Advanced Placement Student Exhibition. Caitlyn’s artwork, “Untitled” received an honorable mention award and Parisa’s artwork, “To Be Feared Over Loved,” received an Award of Excellence. Congratulations, Caitlyn and Parisa! #WeAreBethpage
Central Boulevard students participated in a schoolwide Thoughtful Thursday project on February 15th. Each student decorated a brown paper grocery bag for a local King Kullen. On the bags, they drew colorful pictures and wrote positive messages to bring smiles to the faces of shoppers who receive them. #WeAreBethpage
To help spread positivity and kindness throughout the community, Central Boulevard students recently created their own paper snowflakes with positive messages as part of a Thoughtful Thursday activity. The students wrote positive words, phrases and wishes for the New Year and delivered their winter creations to local businesses! The snowflakes are on display at the Bethpage Public Library, Broadway Stage Door Dance Studio, Central Avenue Deli, Ciminelli’s Pizzeria, Long Island Smoothie Café, Moscato Bakery and Norma’s School of Dance. The project was a great way for students to spread some light throughout the town! #WeAreBethpage
