On Mar. 13, students at Central Boulevard School participated in a special activity aimed at fostering inclusivity and awareness ahead of World Down Syndrome Day for their monthly Thoughtful Thursday initiative.
Students decorated coloring pages of socks, which will be displayed throughout the school as a symbol of support and celebration for individuals with Down syndrome. The artwork serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness, acceptance, and embracing differences.
World Down Syndrome Day is officially observed on Mar. 21. To mark the occasion, the Bethpage school community encourages students to wear brightly colored mismatched socks—an initiative that helps spark conversations about diversity and inclusion. Additionally, students and staff are invited to wear blue and yellow, the official colors representing Down syndrome awareness.
