The Bethpage High School Masquers Guild recently dazzled audiences with their production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” at the Bethpage Center for the Performing Arts. This hilarious, Tony Award-winning musical follows a die-hard theater fan as he plays his favorite cast album, bringing the characters to life in his living room. Originally debuting on Broadway in 2006, the show has since become a beloved favorite for its clever humor and nostalgic charm.
Bethpage’s production was brought to life under the direction of Mr. Zachary Levy, with choreography by Ms. Kaitlin Kramer, vocal direction by Ms. Michelle Kovacs and orchestra direction by Mr. Eric Kay. The show’s impressive design and technical elements were overseen by Mr. Michael Gamman, Mr. Robert Verdi and Ms. Destiny Parsons.
Adding to the production’s special touches, several faculty members played key roles behind the scenes and on stage. Ms. Alexandra Stewart, Ms. Jessica Sinisi, Ms. Nazli Todor, Ms. Kristen Warnokowski, Mr. Cameron Carrella, Mr. Brent Chiarello, Ms. Michelle Kovacs and Ms. Daria Gomez all performed in the orchestra. Meanwhile, Charles Campagne School Principal Ms. Julianne Inghilterra, Kramer Lane Elementary School Principal Ms. Kerri McCarthy and Central Boulevard Elementary School Principal Ms. Dominique Siebert delighted audiences in a rotating cameo role as “the superintendent.”
Months of hard work and dedication from students and staff culminated in a spectacular performance, earning praise from the Bethpage community. A special congratulations goes out to the senior members of the Masquers Guild, who took their final bow on Bethpage’s stage with this production.
