On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, members of the Bethpage High School Robotics Team, Regal Eagles, were invited to participate at Optimum's Consumer Services Department Summit. At this event, the Regal Eagles had the opportunity to present to over 100+ Optimum leaders in attendance about the FIRST Robotics Competition program and their passion for robotics and STEM. The students answered questions and also provided a robot demonstration.
According to Allison Alyward, Optimum's Director of Community Affairs, "I want to once again extend my deepest gratitude to you all for taking the time to prepare for today and for being such an integral part of the day! The students brought such a renewed energy and inspiration to our employees and conveyed the mission of FIRST in every aspect. It truly speaks to how incredible they are that so many leaders and executives in the room were blown away by their maturity, professionalism and knowledge."
After a hearty lunch, the students were invited to participate in an "breakout" activity with Optimum employees called "The Innovative Apprentice" where teams were tasked with creating ideas on how to further promote the FIRST Robotics Program.
Special thanks to Gabriella Hernandez, Lavleen Kaur, and Yuvraj Singh for representing the Regal Eagles, Bethpage High School, and FIRST Long Island at this event as well as Optimum for the invitation and continuing to support robotics and STEM in our region.
