JFK Middle School 7th Graders Take Learning to New Heights with Rocket Launch
Yesterday, students in Mr. Wettengel’s 7th grade Technology and Engineering class at JFK Middle School took to the back field to launch rockets they had built themselves. The project, which combined creativity with hands-on learning, gave students the chance to design and decorate their own rockets before sending them skyward under Mr. Wettengel’s guidance.
Throughout this project, students explored fundamental concepts in physics and engineering, learning about propulsion, aerodynamics, and the science of flight. By engaging in the full process—from construction and customization to launch—they experienced firsthand how forces like gravity and air resistance impact the movement of objects.
The excitement was palpable as each student watched their rocket soar, marking the culmination of a project that brought classroom lessons to life.
