The Bethpage Union Free School District is thrilled to announce that Charlie Majewski, an 8th grader at John F. Kennedy Middle School, has been named a finalist in the 2024-25 Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) Concerto and Vocal Competition. Charlie’s remarkable talent and dedication to music have earned her this incredible honor, placing her among some of the most gifted young musicians on Long Island.
As a finalist, Charlie will perform at the MYO Finalists Concert, which takes place on Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Huntington in Centerport. This event is an opportunity for the top 16 finalists to showcase their musical artistry and hard work before a panel of guest adjudicators.
The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, founded in 1993, is committed to fostering young musicians’ talents by providing opportunities to rehearse and perform choral and orchestral masterworks at the highest level. Over the years, MYO has grown into a vibrant musical community with seven orchestras and eight choirs, serving more than 800 students between the ages of 8 and 18.
The Bethpage community is immensely proud of Charlie for her outstanding achievement and looks forward to cheering her on as she takes the stage in February. Best of luck, Charlie—you’ve already made us so proud!
