Buddies 2024

Fifth-grade students recently participated in a two-day Buddy Program training, designed to foster connection and understanding through hands-on activities. The training engaged students in interactive games such as "Telephone Touch" and challenges like lining up by birthdate—all without speaking. These activities encouraged students to explore the importance of non-verbal communication.

Key topics discussed during the training included commitment, empathy, and gaining a deeper understanding of disabilities. Students were encouraged to see disability not as a limitation, but as a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world. The goal in continuing to foster a sense of inclusion and respect, helping them appreciate that different abilities offer unique strengths.

This training sets the stage for a year of meaningful relationships, with students eagerly anticipating the bonds that will form between them and their buddies. A special thank you to Dr. Ricci and Mrs. Inghillterra for facilitating the training. We look forward to the positive impact these connections will have throughout the year.
