Bethpage High School sophomore Gianna Fernandez was recently selected as one of twelve student-artists to have their artwork published in the 2023 Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau Gardening Calendar and Guide. She submitted a nature-themed acrylic painting last year as a freshman in Christopher DeStefano’s class into the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s annual Student Art Competition.
The competition was open to Nassau County students in Grades K-12 and all submissions were judged by professional artists. As one of the selected student-artists, Gianna is invited to attend a reception which will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Her winning artwork will be on display, along with all the others who were chosen for the calendar. Gianna will receive a certificate and a complimentary calendar at the special event
