Kits that Care is an ongoing initiative which was spearheaded by Bethpage High School Senior Devaanshi Kawatra with the support and guidance of Bethpage High School Social Worker Sarah Glassman.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, Bethpage High School students volunteered with Kits that Care to package 100 mental health kits for The Safe Center Long Island. The mental health kits contained sensory items, stickers, journaling material, and plenty more to promote healthy habits. The kits are now helping women facing domestic violence.
This community service activity was funded by a $500 grant from Let’s Choose Love (LCL), a national nonprofit. During rigorous application cycles, Devaanshi shared her idea to support mental health, and LCL wholeheartedly supported the mission.
This is only one of several events Kits That Care has hosted! Since its inception earlier this year, it has raised money to create and deliver over 1,000 care kits across the world. They host monthly events to package kits and make cards, and they would love for you to volunteer at the next one!
